Biography

Cristian Rovito is First Marshal serving with the Port Authority – Coast Guard in Otranto. He graduated with honours in Law from the Pegaso Telematic University and in Sociology and Social Research (curriculum in deviance and crime) from the University of Salento, developing a solid academic and professional background focused on environmental protection and criminology.
A qualified criminologist registered with the AICIS National Register (no. 271), he specialises in green criminology. He collaborates with universities and research centres as an expert in the sociology of crime and teaches on university master's and advanced training courses. He is a member of the Italian Society of Criminology and Dirittoambiente – Giuristi Ambientali (Environmental Law – Environmental Lawyers). He has many years of operational experience in the maritime and environmental fields, gained in international contexts, including the MIBIL missions in Lebanon (2024, 2025) as a military instructor for the Italian Coast Guard. He was awarded a Solemn Commendation by the Commander-in-Chief for a humanitarian rescue operation conducted as part of the FRONTEX mission.
