Carlo Melzi d'Eril was born in 1972. He graduated in Law with honours from the University of Pavia and obtained a PhD in Criminal Procedure from the University of Ferrara.
Since 2001, he has been registered as a lawyer with the Court of Milan. In 2010, together with other colleagues, he founded the ACCMS law firm, where he practises as a lawyer in criminal law, with particular reference to "white collar" criminal law and economic and corporate law.
Since 2013 he has been admitted to practice before the higher courts.
He is a lecturer at the University of Pavia's School of Specialisation in Legal Professions and at the Bocconi University of Milan; at the Luiss Guido Carli School of Specialisation in Legal Professions in Rome; at the Master in Corporate Criminal Law at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan; and at the "Giorgio Marinucci" Course of Specialisation in Criminal Law at the State University of Milan.
He has participated as a speaker in meetings and conferences organised by various universities, professional associations and the Scuola Superiore di Magistratura.
He is co-author of three books on information law for the Centro Documentazione Giornalistico, Cedam and most recently of Le regole dei giornalisti. Istruzioni per un mestiere pericolosi, Il Mulino, 2012.
He has published more than eighty articles in numerous scientific journals such as "Cassazione penale", "Giurisprudenza italiana", "Foro ambrosiano", "Il diritto dell'informazione e dell'informatica", "Quaderni costituzionali", "Rivista giuridica dell'ambiente", "Ambiente & Sviluppo", "Guida al diritto", "Famiglia e minori", "Diritto e giustizia", www.penalecontemporaneo.it.
Since 2016, he has been a member of the editorial staff of "Rivista giuridica dell'ambiente".
He is one of the editors of "MediaLaws - Rivista di diritto dei media".
